Why we picked it

Hallmark is one of the fastest-growing design add-ons for AI coding assistants, with over 45,000 GitHub stars. It's made by Together AI and released under MIT. In our own test, it made one of the two boldest pages when we didn't give it a design system, a page like an old printed price list. It's best for new pages when you want your assistant to commit to a real look. It takes longer than working without it, and it was the slowest in our test.

About Hallmark

Hallmark is a design add-on, called a skill, for AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode. A skill is a set of instructions and small tools that your assistant follows while it works. Hallmark gives your assistant a hard set of design rules, then deals it a look to build in.

It's made by Together AI and has over 45,000 stars on GitHub.

What it can do

  • Fifty themes to choose from. Each build is offered three themes that fit what you asked for, like a paper, typeface and colour set. Two pages in the same theme still come out different.
  • Custom designs. Ask for a custom page and it designs from your description alone, under the same rules.
  • Built around the visitor's job. A booking page books, a shop sells. The main action sits where people expect it.
  • Catches AI habits. It checks for the usual tells, like small capital labels above every heading, invented numbers, and a hero that doesn't fit the screen.
  • Real photos. It can use 755 openly licensed photos, credited on the page.
  • Redesign and audit. Rebuild an existing page and keep its content, or get a report without any changes.

What we found when we tested it

We gave Hallmark, Impeccable, anti-slop and plain Claude the same brief for a small bakery website. With a full design system in the brief, all four pages looked much the same. Without one, Hallmark made a page like an old printed price list: parchment, one blue accent, old-style blackletter headings and a numbered bread list. Plain Claude made a typical page with cards. Hallmark used 37 to 66% more tokens than plain Claude, and took up to four and a half minutes.

Hallmark, Impeccable or anti-slop?

All three help your AI assistant make better-looking pages. They differ in how much they decide for you.

A quick way to choose: starting a new page and want a strong look? Try Hallmark. Improving a site you already have? Impeccable. Already know your look? Write a DESIGN.md and add anti-slop to catch AI habits.

How to get it

  • You need Node.js 18 or newer, and an AI coding assistant that works with files on your computer.
  • Install it for all your projects with npx skills add nutlope/hallmark -g, or leave out -g for just this project.
  • In Claude Code, you can also add it as a plugin: /plugin marketplace add nutlope/hallmark, then /plugin install hallmark@hallmark.
  • Use it by asking for a page, like "use hallmark to build a one-page website for my bakery", or /hallmark followed by your request.
  • Redesign or audit: /hallmark redesign or /hallmark audit, followed by the page.

Good to know

  • Its full browser checks need puppeteer-core and Chrome. Without them, only the simpler checks run.
  • It asks once for your real material, like photos, screenshots and real numbers, and never invents them.
  • It uses more tokens and time than working without it. In our test it took up to about four and a half minutes, against about half a minute for plain Claude.
  • If you set a Together AI key, it adds an optional mock-up step before building, which runs on your Together AI account.
  • It only touches an existing design when you ask for a Hallmark redesign by name.
  • Licence: MIT. Free to use, change and include in products you sell, as long as you keep the copyright notice. The photos have their own open licences, so keep the credits it adds.

What you can build with it

  • Building a new landing page that doesn't look AI-made
  • Giving a small business website a distinct visual identity
  • Trying three different design directions for the same page
  • Auditing a page for the usual signs of AI design
  • Redesigning an existing page while keeping its words and links
