Terms & Conditions

These terms are the agreement between you and Design Ustaad, a sole proprietorship based in Pakistan that runs Opensrcs ("Opensrcs", "we", "us"). They cover opensrcs.com, your Opensrcs account, and the Opensrcs MCP. By using Opensrcs you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

We've tried to keep them short and in plain words. Questions are welcome at support@opensrcs.com.

1. What Opensrcs is

Opensrcs is a hand-picked directory of open source projects hosted on GitHub. We describe each project, break it into building blocks you can reuse, explain its licence in plain English, and help you plan a stack from an idea. Browsing and searching the directory is free and needs no account.

2. Your account

  • You need to be at least 16 to create an account.
  • Give us a real email address. We send a confirmation link, and some features (such as commenting) only work once your email is confirmed.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access, change your password and use Log out everywhere in Settings, then tell us.
  • One account per person. Accounts can't be shared, sold or transferred.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings. See section 12 for what happens then.

3. Plans and payment

  • Free includes browsing, building blocks, licence guidance, Build a stack, and up to 10 saved ideas.
  • Pro costs US$10 a month or US$96 a year and adds the Opensrcs MCP, unlimited saved ideas and early access to new features. The pricing page always shows the current plans and prices.
  • Online payment isn't live yet. Until it is, the Opensrcs team changes plans by hand, and nobody is charged without agreeing to it first.
  • Once online payment is live: plans are paid in advance and renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't refund part-used periods, except where the law requires it.
  • If we change a price, we'll tell existing subscribers at least 30 days before it applies to them.
  • Features marked "soon" are plans, not promises. They may change or not ship.

4. What you post

This covers your comments, project submissions, change requests, saved ideas and profile.

  • You keep ownership of what you write.
  • So we can run the site, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and moderate it, for as long as it's on Opensrcs. Comments and your public profile can be seen by anyone. You can make your profile private in Settings.
  • Your ideas stay private. Saved ideas are visible only to you (and to our team if needed to run or support the service). We don't publish them or sell them. If you send an idea to your own AI tool (for example with "Open in ChatGPT" or through the MCP), that tool's own terms apply to what you send it.
  • Only post what you have the right to share. Don't post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, misleading, spam or advertising, or anything that infringes someone else's rights or privacy.
  • Moderation: comments appear straight away. Anyone can report one, and we may hide or remove comments that break these terms. We review submitted projects and change requests, and we decide what the directory lists. Submitting a project doesn't guarantee it will be listed.

5. Using Opensrcs fairly

Please don't:

  • try to break, overload or get around the site's security, rate limits or plan limits;
  • copy or republish the directory in bulk, or scrape it with automated tools. Linking to pages and quoting short parts with a link back is fine;
  • resell or share access to the MCP or your personal MCP address;
  • pretend to be someone else, or use Opensrcs to break the law.

We may limit, suspend or close accounts that do, and remove anything posted in breach of these terms.

6. The Opensrcs MCP (Pro)

  • The MCP lets your own AI tool (such as Claude, Cursor, Grok or Codex) search the directory and read licence information. It is read-only.
  • Your MCP address contains a personal key. Treat it like a password. If it leaks, contact us and we'll replace it.
  • Your AI tool does the reasoning, under its provider's own terms and your own subscription with them. We don't control what your AI tool says or does with the information.
  • We may limit or withdraw MCP access if it's misused.

7. Open source projects and other websites

  • The projects in the directory belong to their creators. Opensrcs isn't affiliated with them unless we say so. Project names and logos are trademarks of their owners and are shown only to identify the projects.
  • Project details (such as stars and last activity) come from GitHub and may be out of date.
  • Opensrcs links to other websites (GitHub, project sites and docs, AI tools). Their own terms and privacy policies apply there, and we aren't responsible for them.

8. Licence information is guidance, not legal advice

Our licence summaries, licence checks, building block notes and generated prompts are there to help you understand open source licences quickly. They can be incomplete or wrong, and a licence can change. Always check the project's actual licence, and get advice from a qualified lawyer before relying on it for anything important. The same goes for anything your AI tool produces from our prompts: check it before you use it.

9. Voice input

On the Ideas page you can describe an idea by voice. The speech is turned into text in your browser; the audio is not sent to us. The first time you use it, your browser downloads the speech model (about 75 MB) from Hugging Face through jsDelivr, and keeps it for next time.

10. Our content

The Opensrcs site, its design, and the text we write (descriptions, "Why we picked it" notes, building block notes, licence summaries and news) belong to Design Ustaad. Open source code and documentation stay under their own licences. You may share links and quote short parts with credit and a link back.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Opensrcs running and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We may change, pause or stop features. If we stop a paid feature you've paid for, we'll refund the unused part.

12. Ending your account

  • You can delete your account in Settings at any time. Your account and saved ideas are deleted. Comments you posted stay, shown as "Deleted member", so conversations still make sense. Ask us if you'd like them removed as well.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first.

13. Liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or business;
  • we aren't responsible for open source projects, third-party websites or AI tools, or for decisions made using our licence guidance;
  • our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, or takes away rights you have under consumer protection law where you live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Opensrcs changes. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell account holders by email or on the site before they take effect. If you keep using Opensrcs after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Pakistan have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you use Opensrcs as a consumer in another country, you keep any protections your local law gives you that can't be taken away by agreement.
